Buvęs Vilniaus vandens aporto mokyklos, "Baltic Amadeus" komandų ir Lietuvos jaunių ir jaunimo rinktinių žaidėjas Edgaras Asajavičius išrinktas 2011 m. sezono NCAA Vakarų konferencijos "Metų žaidėju" ir pateko

į konferencijos simbolinę rinktinę, tačiau konferencijos pusfinalyje Edgaro LMU "Lions" komanda 6:7 pralaimėjo UC Davis ir NCAA finalo ketverto turnyre nežais. Rungtynėse dėl trečios vietos Edgaras paskutiniame savo karjeros studentų lygoje mače įmetė net 5 įvarčius, o jo komanda 10:7 įveikė Santa Clara universiteto studentus. E.Asajavičius tapo ketvirtuoju per visą istoriją LMU "Lions" žaidėju įmetusiu į varžovų vartus 200 ir daugiau įvarčių.

DAY THREE RESULTS

 

GAME 13 - SEMI #1 - UC Davis 7, LMU 6 (3ot)

The first semifinal of the day couldn’t have been better nor more dramatic as Aaron Salit’s goal with 11 seconds remaining in the second sudden-death overtime period lifts No. 4 seed and 12th-ranked UC Davis to a 7-6 win over No. 1 seed and 10th-ranked LMU. The Aggies advance to Sunday’s championship game despite late goals by LMU that sent the game to overtime and then Joe Ferretti’s goal with 18 second left in the second period of overtime that sent it to sudden death. UC Davis goalie Kevin Peat made 13 saves in the win.

GAME 14 - SEMI #2 - UC San Diego 10, Santa Clara 2

Graham Saber scored four of UC San Diego’s 10 goals, as the Tritons cruised to a 10-2 win in the second semifinal of the 2011 WWPA Men’s Championship. They advance to Sunday’s final against UC Davis at 2 p.m. Leading 2-1, UC San Diego scored eight unanswered to put the game away. David Morton made 14 saves for the Tritons.

GAME 16 - Claremont-M-S 11, Pomona-Pitzer 9 (ot)

In the second thrilling overtime match of the day, Claremont’s Michael Lee scored a goal in each overtime period to lift the Stags to an 11-9 win over Pomona-Pitzer at the 2011 WWPA Men’s Championships. They advance to the 5th place game on Sunday. Overtime was set-up be a thrilling final 15 seconds of regulation as Claremont’s Maarten Lefor scored with 15 seconds remaining to give the Stags a 9-8 lead. Pomona-Pitzer had one last chance and Stephen Vint made the most of it, scoring with just three seconds left to send it to overtime.

 

GAME 15 - Air Force 11, Redlands 8

Air Force, who trailed at the half, outscored Redlands 4-1 in the final 3:34 of the game to earn an 11-8 win to advance to Sunday’s fifth place game at 11 a.m. Cruz Smithson scored four goals, all in the second half, to lead the Falcons. Goalie Danny Harold had 14 saves for Air Force.

 

GAME 12 - 9th Place - Chapman 7, Whittier 5

Chase Middlesworth scored with 24 seconds remaining to lift Chapman to a 7-5 win over Whittier to claim 9th place in the 2011 WWPA Men’s Championship. Chapman trailed 5-4 after Whittier’s Keary Schlactus scored on a 6-on-5 attack with 6:21 to play. Mark Alvarado would tied the game at 5-5 with a 6-on-5 goal for Chapman. Pierre Masson would tack on the seventh goal for Chapman with just one second remaining. Ryan Rock had 10 saves in goal for Whittier while Taylor Rozskos had eight for Chapman.

 

GAME 11 - 11th PLACE - Occidental 14, La Verne 11

Occidental jumped out to a 7-1 lead at halftime and never looked back to earn a 14-11 win over La Verne to capture 11th place in the 2011 WWPA Men’s Championship on Saturday morning. Joe Renyolds had four goals while Tai McDermott added three.
